FIVE SONGS THAT GOT ME THROUGH THE WEEK - #2

Peace Everyone.

This is a series I want to try my best to publish every weekend. A list of five records that helped propel me through my daily grind and overcome the challenges of the past week. Music, along with meditation, exercise, and a daily practice of gratitude, is what provides me the support and strength needed to have an effective week. Whether its a song to pump me up while working out, or a record that provides me comfort and reassurance when I am doubting myself, having a current selection of music that fits my weekly needs is paramount for my growth.

This Week’s Five Songs

  1. Nai Palm - “Homebody”

Nai Palm, the lead vocalist from the mind blowing group Hiatus Kaiyote, has been a source of inspiration and comfort for me ever since I came across her music back in 2013. This song did a lot for me this week..

2. Curtis Mayfield - “The Makings Of You”

First time coming across this classic record was back in my teenage years via 9th Wonder’s chop of it. Me and Blank use to bump that joint non-stop. Found myself returning to the original record a few times this week.

3. Styles P - “My Life (Feat. Pharoahe Monch)”

“And I ain’t got friends, I got enemies. So if they with me that means they my Brother, nigga.”

This one right here is dedicated to one of my dearest friends who lost his older Brother earlier this week. This song meant a lot to us back in the day, and means even more to me now. Help support my Brother’s family if you can.

4. Saba - “CALLIGRAPHY”

Radamiz put me on to this record this weekend during our drive upstate. Loving the vibe of this entire album.

5. Earl Sweatshirt - “AM // Radio (Feat. Wiki)”

Bumped this album straight through this weekend. Really love Earl’s verse on this joint.
